I enjoy 1980, the band is getting into the groove with Mydland and an album of new material to play incessantly over the year...as compared to nearby years, I prefer 81 and 82, but 80 is generally better than late 79...the acoustic sets played in the fall were consistently superb

as for the best shows, definitely check out the Alaska stand in June, 6/19, 6/20, 6/21...09-02 and 09-06 are outstanding, particularly 09-06, 11-29 is a nice show, fantastic Terrapin, however my pick for show of the year is 10-10-1980, absolutely love this show,a personal favorite Scarlet>Fire, classic versions of Althea and Jack Straw, just a great show...

1980 was something of a transitional year and only caught the 15th Anniversary Shows in Boulder.

Agree with your assessment of Alaska West High June, add to the mix Mississippi River Fest & Spectrum August, Maine September, New Orleans October, Atlanta & Florida Late November, Long Beach December + 26th & 28th New Years Run, NYE was beat.

The acoustic set revival was the highlight of the year in what was mostly a thick sounding year in terms of recreational consumption.
